Andrew asked me to photograph his Red brindle Boxer dog for him, and visited me at home last week where we took a series of photos – both ‘studio’ and natural. We got some great shots of a real character. Here are just a few for you to take a look at…

Surrey dog photographer

Lee called me up a few months ago and asked me if I could take some pictures of Mum’s Miniature Schnauzer, Sheba – in Peterborough! Now, ordinarily I wouldn’t venture so far out from home… but I guess Lee caught me in a weak moment, and was very complimentary about my photography (I’m a sucker for sweet-talking) – so that’s how I found myself at Mum Grace’s place last week.

Sheba turned out to be a lovely dog, and quite the poser…

After a quick pause to mow the lawn (hey, she’s miniature Schnauzer after all and we wanted to see her properly!) I started snapping.

Professional family and pet photographer

…but you know how things tend to slip through, right?

Shelley from Ashford, Kent contacted me some time ago to arrange for a series of photos: 1 dog, 3 cats, 2 humans was how she described it – and that’s just what it was. Shelley’s cats turned out to be somewhat camera-shy… but a good dose of patience, some laying on my belly, and a trip to the cupboard to photograph one particularly shy subject later, and we had a number of shots in the bag.

Professional animal photography in Kent

Angela contacted me because she wanted some really special portraits taken of her new puppy Delancey – a 6 week old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. We arranged the shoot quite quickly, knowing how fast puppies grow. Angela really wanted to capture Delancey in his true “puppy” state.

So on to the shoot… Angela arrived by train with Delancey in his own little travel bag – and when she let him out I could see he was a gorgeous little thing! Excitable, inquisitive, fast and constantly moving but very very cute.

I guess you wanna see some cute puppy pictures then, right? Ok, get your “Oohs” and “Aaah’s” ready ‘cos here they come.

4. Now for some fun with a wide angle lens!

5. This was great fun. With a 12mm lens fitted to the camera, this was taken just a couple of inches from puppy.

6. And finally one to make you laugh. Angela told me she loved those shots where the head looks really big and the body small – almost a cartoon caricature of Delancey… Could I do one? Well let’s see…!

Ok, that’s all for now. This was a fun shoot to do. Puppy was the cutest thing – and even though at just 6 weeks old he’s had no training yet, he turned out great to work with too (once we’d employed a few tricks to keep his busy little self contained)! Angela loved the session and I just know she’s going to be excited when she sees her pictures, so I’m looking forward to that.

So… on to today’s story: Val contacted me and asked me to photograph Woody for her. Woody is a lovely 13 year old dog with a great temperament and was so relaxed during our photo session that I thought he was going to drop off to sleep completely! A bit of bribery from the biscuit barrel seemed to get his attention though.

Dog photographers in Surrey

Sadly, our model today is not in great health, and is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment for cancer… so I took a trip down to Dorking for our photo shoot.

There is a saying “Never work with children or animals”, which is borne from their tendency to do what they please when they please… Our model for today decided he wasn’t keen on photography so we ended up doing a bit of ‘sniping’ in and around Michael’s home. He was a lovely cat, but a bit camera shy – and who can blame him!

Perseverance paid off, we got our pictures, and I left cat and owner enjoying the weather in the garden. A few pictures for you…

After a long run of pet portraiture recently, actor Michael contacted me saying he wanted some headshots taken – and of course, I was happy to oblige.

Michael came to me and sat for an hour’s headshots session, and we got some nice shots for him in both black and white and colour. Here is a small selection from those we took…

Suzie told me the cats are a much loved part of the family, but have had to take a bit of a back seat since the kids came along, so she decided it would be a great idea to have a lovely big portrait taken of the cats, for hubbies 40th birthday present – and this is where I came in

After a nightmare journey into the heart of London (shudders, remembering) I arrived at Suzie’s place on a lovely sunny day. The cats were lovely – and really well behaved too. Just what we needed!

So… without any further ado, let me show you some pictures.

Lovely aren’t they? And finally, here’s a “behind the scenes” shot, showing Suzie’s front room during mid-session!

Pet photography in London, Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire and Kent

Isn’t that just the cutest?

Last week I was lucky enough to find myself in West Sussex photographing these gorgeous little Sheltie puppies, for Burns Pet Nutrition. I did a shoot for Burns Pet Nutrition a little while ago, which included a Chihuahua, a Great Dane and a Patterdale Terrier. Full details of that one can be found here.

Anyway… Colin contacted me again and asked if I would like to do another shoot for them. He included a picture of one of the puppies in his email, and I immediately thought this would be a great fun shoot to do. I mean, just look at this puppy below..!

So, that’s how this one came about. The dogs are owned by top breeder Bernadette Bay, who both breeds and trains Shelties very successfully. If you’d like more information on Bernadette’s success, please visit her website here: O’bay Shelties

Although as with all children, animal and baby shoots, this did have some challenges… it was still a fun shoot to do, and I think we were rewarded with some lovely shots of the dogs.

Burns pet nutrition is a sponsor for Danetrain - a company specialising in supplying fully trained dogs – including but not limited to Great Danes to the film and TV industry. Carole from Danetrain brought along a total of 11 dogs, and we chose 3 for our shoot: Tucker the Great Dane, Lofty the Chihuahua and Ivor, a Patterdale Terrier. All 3 dogs are experienced actors/models, and turned out to be great to work with!
